The Lookout Roadhouse on the Historic Ortega Hwy.

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

The Lookout Roadhouse, beautifully located on the historic Ortega Highway is Southern California’s ultimate two-wheel pit stop for great food and spectacular views. Located just a few short miles west bound and up the hill from Lake Elsinore, this small restuarant boasts of a great ride, great food, great view, great people, and lousy service (their words - not ours). They also have cold German beer and incredible ribs. Kathy and I shared a sampler platter of tasty treats, which included a taste of those ribs. They alone, are worth the visit. While the front door is somewhat hidden, The Lookout Roadhouse does have inside seating, and access to a cliff-hanging balcony overlooking the valley, making a pass through the restuarant all that much more worthwhile.

Quick Throttle EXPO 2006 [part 2]

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

As we continue with our post of the Quick Throttle Expo, we head inside to see what’s happening under the big tops…

Celebrity, actor, musician & now creator of the ultra-cool American Motorcycles line of choppers, Branscombe Richmond was on hand showing his stuff. Kathy and I got a chance to catch up with Branscombe and see his new line of bikes. As a side note, he’s involved with several projects revolving around the biker lifestyle; including movies, music and motorcycles. For more details, check out his site at BranscombeRichmond.com.

American Motorcycles, aka AMC1902, proudly displayed several of their new models. They are building some great stuff with a new fresh look. You can see them in detail at their site. Click here to visit American Motorcycles online.

One of my personal favorites from the sick minds at American Motorcycles. This beast boasts huge rubber up front and back. Squirrels beware!

Speaking of sick… check out the Hayabusa-Powered Trike aka the Martino Kamikaze Integrated Performance Vehicle. This three wheel monster is waaaaay over the top! Where do you even begin with this thing? Hayabusa-powered - well, that’s just crazy - but in good way. But still, 400 horsepower In a vehicle that weighs a thousand pounds? That’s power-to-weight ratio that’ll give you braggin’ rights most anywhere. Mostly though, this thing looks like a blast to drive. The paint is wild too. Craig Fraser can take the credit for spraying fire on this one. What a small world, eh? Anyway, this thing rocks, and it’s inventor and creator, Marc Martino, says they plan to go street legal and take this asphalt pounder to market. Hey, Christmas is coming, and this thing is high on my list.

Well, I digress, so back to the show… Tom from Southern California Motorcycles displayed Victory, Ducati and Triumph motorcycles adorned with a beautiful model. Ironically, when our model appeared, so did the cameras! Flashes popped everywhere, but our model was a great sport and kept on smiling. Perhaps, she, like us, just has a ‘thing’ for motorcycles :-) Click here to see more at SoCal Motorcycles.

Speaking of beautiful ladies and motorcycles, we ran into our friend Larry from Temecula Valley Choppers working hard at convincing the Hooters girls that he needed more wings. He had a great collection of Von Dutch Kustom Cycles and Big Bear Choppers with him, making an impressive display. I did a post a while back featuring TVC and their bikes. (click here to view our previous post)

Anyway, I’m a big fan of their bikes, and as kewl as they are, we still felt a need to accessorize. Here, we feature a Big Bear chopper with four beautiful ladies. When we accessorize, we do it right. I’ll take that order of wings to go.

And go we must. I have to tell you, while this post is large, we’ve just really started. I have a lot more pics from the Quick Throttle Expo to share with you, although not many more of the beautiful ladies - this go around anyway. But, if you’re into airbrush, we have more… tons more. I’ll be sharing a trick truck with you that has hundreds - maybe even thousands - of beautifully frightening airbrushed skulls - and each one is different. That’s insane! I’ll try to get that and more live in the next couple days.

Until then…

Kudos to Quick Throttle for letting us share their show with you. Want more? Click here visit Quick Throttle Magazine online.

Quick Throttle EXPO 2006 [part 1]

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

Friday and Saturday, April 14th and 15th played host to the Quick Throttle Expo at the Del Mar Fair Grounds in sunny southern California. Chris Dalgaard, National Publisher and California Editor, along with his father and publisher of the Northwest edition, Mike Dalgaard, were on hand to share in the festivities. Plenty of hot bikes and trick paint were on display, along with biker celebrities and beautiful ladies galore. And to top it off - on display was one of the most impressive collections of airbrush-laden sheet metal we’ve seen in a while. So, having said that… we present to you the following.

Rock & Roll Custom Paint showed up in style with their trick semi truck and trailer. These guys put on an impressive display with no shortage of great eye candy. Motorcycles featuring hot paint filled their display, along with other impressively airbrushed items like hot guitar bodies and motorcycle helmets. Many of their custom paint jobs feature flames, incredible murals, Giger inspired paint jobs, skulls, eagles and graphics. If you want to Rock & Roll, visit their site.
In the interim, check out the shots of their work below.

Rock & Roll Customs is serious about airbrush. This is the back of their big rig.

Evil, mean, wicked and nasty… and that’s just one of many works of art on this big rig trailer.

The front end of this beast is pretty hot too.

They show lots of great airbrush paint jobs on display. Clearly, airbrush art is alive and well here.

Wild motorcycle tanks - one from the side…
