Steely Dan | Think Fast | Live in 2008

Las Vegas. What’s not to like? In Vegas anything can happen… and usually does. Take a day like Friday - 08/08/08. I called an old friend, Branscombe Richmond, to wish him a happy birthday, only to find out that he was in Vegas on business. Small world… we’re in Vegas too (but you knew that). So, anyway, we decided to get together at the Palms, and when I get there he asks “Do you like Steely Dan?” I thought to myself “Drink your big black cow and get out of here - who doesn’t like Steely Dan? Hey, I wore out a couple Steely Dan albums in my time (you know, back when they were vinyl). So, it turned out that they were performing at the Pearl at the Palms and Branscombe had a set of tickets. I hadn’t yet been to the Pearl, and I’ve never seen Steely Dan perform live so this was a double treat.
Needless to say, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker still rock - as do the rest of the band. Steely Dan put on a great concert, playing all the oldies and making a full stage of players come together to make some sounds. You’ll definitely want to catch them when they come to your town.
