This week’s Pic of the Week is about beautiful body paint at Key West Fantasy Fest. This lovely lady was undergoing her transformation by the capable hands of Pashur.
We received some sad news this week about an icon in the Tattoo world. His name was John Millhouse. John was 52, originally of Appleton, Wisconsin and more recently from Scottsdale, Arizona. He passed unexpectedly on May 17, 2008, in Sedona, Arizona.
John was internationally known for his picture perfect ink, a full body suit tattooed by Rick Harnowski taking John 5-1/2 years to complete and 413 hours of ink time. Tattoo admirers photographed him throughout his travels, including photos in over 50 national magazines, and a cover for Tattoo Art Australia. A 2004 photo of John won the Best of Photojournalism award for “Sturgis Tattooed Biker” and was featured at a show for Harley Davidson at the Milwaukee Art Center.
Speed and agility were a passion for John who personally owned over 50 new cars, motorcycles and boats. He enjoyed making custom designed sound systems, and accessories for them as well as maintaining and polishing their steel and chrome.
John was a Vietnam era veteran in the Army from 1974-76 in where he worked as a vehicle mechanic. He was an expert in grenades, a M-16 sharpshooter and awarded a national defense service medal before being honorably discharged due to a medical disability, which caused chronic migraine, partial loss of vision lasting from 2 hours to 2 days. John then returned to his hometown of Appleton to work for Behm Motors, Lappin-Hickey Steel and Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
Thanks John, for too few but precious minutes of joy and friendship. We would have liked to get to know you better.

April 24, 25, 26 — Laughlin, NV. While thunderous motorcycles roar outside, the buzz of ink is in the air at the 2008 Laughlin Tattoo Convention on the second floor of the Aquarius Casino Resort (formerly the Flamingo). This event, presented by tattoo legends Larry Topping and Catfish Carl along with Dave Miller (Dave’s Body Jewelry) boasted 100+ artists with portfolios on display and tools in hand to create more beautiful ink on skin. We stopped in to check it out, and it was everything we hoped for; live music, entertainment, tattoo contests, vendors, seminars, friendly and colorful people, and a full bar.
We caught up with our buddy Clark North from Las Vegas as he was applying his handiwork.

John Millhouse was showing his amazing work.
Completed 06/06/06, John has invested 5-1/2 years (413 hours) into becoming the walking art statement you see here - one of the most awesome demonstrations of picture perfect symmetrical art anywhere. At last count, he numbered 276 skulls and a plethora of other imagery adorning his heavily tattooed body.
This week’s Pic of The Week was shot last year at the Laughlin River Run where Las Vegas pinstripe artist Zorak the pinstriper lays down the lines on the beautiful ladies. The 2008 Laughlin River Run is just around the corner.
Our friend Daniel Power from Power Airbrush Studios in Australia shares this airbrushing for corporate demonstration video at the 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan. Also shown are custom airbrushed panels and airbrush body painting by world class airbrush artist Daniel Power. We’re told that 250,000 people came through this show in just 3 days.

Our MySpace Featured Artist contemporaries are more than airbrush stars. It’s about artists we respect, and their work, regardless of their medium or genre. Many airbrush, some sculpt, and others create the ultimate body art - tattoos. Yeah, we’re talking the real deal here - not the kind of body art that you shower off before heading to bed. The kind that lasts forever. And if you want it done right you go to an expert at their craft. That’s why we’re proud to share Clark North of Clark Tattoo as our latest MySpace Featured Artist. Check out the work below.
Clark is a man who loves his work. His chair is constantly full, and his needle always busy, but if you’re serious about what you want and you appreciate a true work of art, he’ll fit you in and get it done right. That’s why Clark will tell you… “You get the tattoo you deserve”.
Clark is a traditional painter too, favoring acrylics and either painting or drawing most every day. And it shows. Below are a few examples of his art…

The 2007 Airbrush Confidential Party at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV featured two lovely models being painted by two lovely airbrush artists. Life is good.
We thought too many pictures of this event was just about enough. Enjoy…

This must be the season for body art and beautiful ladies. Or maybe, we’re just lucky and in all the right places
These shots, taken by A.D. in Key West during Fantasy Fest, feature our beautiful model April all body painted, head-to-toes, by non-other than the amazingly talented Pashur. We’ve brought some of his outstanding work recently in our previous Key West Fantasy Fest post and also the Harvest Art Show post. He’s a busy guy, but the word is he loves his work. We love it too.
