Devious Designs out of Sin City, NV. Sure, we’ve brought you posts on this crazy crew before (click here), but not from their digs - in this case, the new shop on West Hacienda in Las Vegas. We stopped in recently to check it, and them, out. These guys are always busy and have some fun projects going on. Trucks, bikes, trikes - you name it. We like their work, so we’re keeping an eye out for them…
…and they are keeping an eye out for you. Check out this helmet in the works.
Sweet Danger. We agree. We’re just not sure if the bike or the babe that adorns her.
Airbrush artist Gearboxxx Rox is the newest addition to the Devious Designs crew. Learn more about the west coast’s hardest cyberpunk graff artist and his work on his MySpace page at MySpace.com/gearboxxx_rox.
But first, check out this airbrushed shirt painted from his ultra sick mind (sure, sick in a good way).
This truck in process rocks (or rox) - either way, this is some awesome paint work in the worxxx. Radical skulls encased in flamed graphics make this one a future head-turner for sure.
Another shot from above looking down on the hood. The underpainting looks great in white. We can’t wait to see this beast all finished, unwrapped and ready to roll. We’re told that will be soon, so we won’t have to wait long. And you know, when we see it, you’ll get a taste as well, so stay tuned to AirbrushTour.com for that one. In the interim, click here to visit Devious Designs online for some great pics of their work.
As the saying goes, “We olive this town”. Okay, that may be because the artist know as Michael Godard is know for his olive art, which this beautiful ‘61 Chevy Impala features. Or, maybe it’s because Las Vegas is one of the few places you can legitimately create a car like this. After all, this ride has street cred, from casino to car show. Garnished with olives, this is one rolling piece of art dedicated to the roll of the dice, and the know of the game.
From front to back… the hood features an olive mural. High limit: we all love, er, we mean, we ‘olive’ holdem’.
Just ahead of the passenger door sits a pair of Kings and an Ace (spade of course), all aflame.
Further back, an olive dude is in a hurry to get to Vegas with the loot.
The driver’s side is about rolling down the fast lane where there is no limits.
Vegas or bust! Ya, we olive this town too.
We know you’re praying for seven, so in the spirit of Las Vegas, we had to bring you seven pics for this post. This interior shot shows why this beast rocks (and rolls). Kicker amps and speakers everywhere. Let ‘er roll.
We stopped in again this past weekend at the Cars and Coffee event that happens weekly gathering of cars and enthusiasts in Las Vegas. Seems we can’t get enough of the cool local cars to compliment the hot weather. This week we discovered a gem of a ride in this beautiful Caddy sitting all flamed and ready to roll. Spotting it from half a block away, we were called to her, like a cold beer on a hot day, sitting there topless and ready for pics.
That’s when we met Robert, driver of this ride and purveyor of great Mexican grilled dishes, who takes the Zabamobile, as he calls her, to the local events for a little well-deserved attention.
The Zabamobile is the flagship vehicle, acting as the mobile ambassador of Zaba’s Mexican Grill restaurants. You are likely to catch a glimpse of this impressively restored classic Cadillac anywhere in the greater Las Vegas Metro area.
This cool ride looks great from any angle. Beautifully painted and airbrushed by Ten Ten Custom Paint Inc. out of Las Vegas.
Click here to see more pics of the Zabamobile at their web site. And when out and about in Vegas, stop in for a great healthy meal. They have five locations in Vegas and their food is great. Burritos, bowls, the works. Filling too— you get a lot of meal for your buck.
A few posts back, we brought you some great pics from a regular gig here for cars lovers and coffee addicts (see our Cars and Coffee post from 7/14/08). Every Saturday morning proud drivers and car lovers get together to kick tires and enjoy a cup of Joe. Cars and Coffee™ Las Vegas launched June 14th, 2008 and is growing. We’ve been out there a few times now, and each time there are a few more cars. the congregation of assorted cars runs from 7:00am - 10:00am at 9500 S Eastern Ave. in the Sansone Park Place Shopping Center (215 and Eastern).
And while there is a plethora of great rides on display every weekend, this post is going to highlight a few American cars and trucks, like the ol timer ’50’s Ford F-100 above.
With no shortage of chrome, and tons of engine under the hood, we’re guessing this rig really hauls.
She still flies! An airbrush eagle mural adorns each door, complimented by ol glory stars and stripes.
Sticking with old Fords for a bit, we find this proud panel sitting nearby…
…ready for service - Hot Rod Service that is.
Check out her pinstripes.
And what’s a show without an old Chevy truck? This is a sweet ride - the way cool trucks are mint to be.
A hot Corvette looks cool…
…especially with trick hinged doors.
And while what’s under the hood always matters - what’s in the back is no laughing matter either.
Vettes still rule - old ones too.
Not many of these 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbirds around anymore.
The short-lived Plymouth Road Runner Superbird, a sister design to the Dodge Charger Daytona, was designed to beat the Ford Torino Talladega at NASCAR stock car racing and to lure Richard Petty back to Plymouth. Both cars famously featured a protruding, aerodynamic nosecone, a massive rear spoiler, and a horn whose sound mimicked the Road Runner cartoon character. This blue beast is a beautiful example of American muscle from a time when gas was cheap and Mopar ruled the track. As a side note, it’s the first car ever banned from NASCAR - oh, nasty.
Bringing in a new era is the 2008 Dodge Challenger. This is the first we’ve seen on the street and it’s a beautiful car up close. We’re glad to see they are much like what we’ve seen at SEMA over the last couple years.
This one’s packing a 6.1 liter Hemi. Old school thinking in a new world. There should be plenty of ‘go’ to compliment the ’show’ in this one.
Back to old…
This Buick Riviera makes an appearance at many local rod shows. It’s very possible that you’ve seen a taste of her on AirbrushTour sometime in a previous post. This is the first time though, that we’ve been able to get some good shots on a nice day with the hood up…
…which is cool, since this ride is packing some serious muscle - Corvette style. This Riviera is powered by a Corvette Vortech LS7, 7.0 liter, that should be in a C6 Z06, but look quite at home here.
With too many details for this post, we’ll have to bring you more on the Riviera soon.
Okay, we couldn’t resist one last shot.
Less rain made for more Cobras.
Our last car featured in this post is one smooth ride.
Complete with spot lights - driver’s and passenger’s sides.
And of course… fuzzy dice. Vegas - that’s how we roll, baby.
We checked in with our buddy Charlie Brechtel this week and he had some news and some cool pics for you - hey, we’re breaking news here. It’s not everyday that we Blog a burial and resurrection in the same post.
The pictures are from Beaumont, Texas - Sonny Keeton (Custom Motorcycles by Sonny), old school chopper builder and fabricator, and his son Waylon. They are part of Charlie’s new CD project - “Iron VooDoo“. The CD will include a DVD which has video of what it took to rebuild his bike and the making of the music.
It’s a voodoo story on reversing the curse on his bike going from a ‘86 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail to a Sonny Keeton extravaganza. The bike will look nowhere near its original style. Charlie took his film crew from “Water Buffalo Films” and shot everything live on location. So, patience please - in time the will be a new bike riding the highways of California, and a new tune in ‘ol Charlie’s heart. When that happens, we’ll let you know. In the meanwhile, enjoy the pics…
This cool Hearse rocks! How could we expect any less?
Primer gray rat rods are always cool.
R.I.P., which may very well, in this case anyway, stand for “Return In Pride”.
These bikes are in grave danger of going six feet under if not for Sonny’s help.
Can you dig it? A Pan Head and a Shovel ready for rest, or in this case not… these are scheduled for salvation to be reborn and ride again.
A horse of a different color and a shovel of a different kind. This is a great example of Sonny’s handiwork ala chopper style.
Guitars, cars, motorcycles and tunes. Who could ask for more?
Charlie jams…
…with the band.
Charlie and Sonny pause for a respectful moment of silence. Ya, we’re diggin’ Sonny’s walkin’ stick.
This one is “Born Again”…
…while this one awaits for its second chance at life. Iron VooDoo - Reversing The Curse.
Stay tuned. We’ll sneak in some updates as they come along.
Other news: Water Buffalo Films is currently finishing up their biker documentary called “I Ride“. The wrap party will be on September 25th. It will be debuting at a night club in San Francisco featuring the Fryed Brothers and the Charlie Brechtel Band as the musical entertainment as well as a host of other talented bike builders and people in the industry. For more information contact WaterBuffaloFilms.com or Big7Productions.com.
Last December we brought you a preview of the SSC Ultimate Aero TT. With its proprietary 1183 hp Twin Turbo V8, it’s marked its place in the Guinness World Records at 256.19 mph, besting the Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg CCX, Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo, McLaren F1 and Ferrari Enzo - making it the world’s fastest production car, and best of all, and it’s made in the USA.
Well, now it seems Tonight Show host and car enthusiast Jay Leno has caught on to the magic of this amazing car and the Ultimate Aero is currently featured on Jay Leno’s Garage with great videos and pics.
Last May 25th we brought you a post on the 9th Annual Gasoline Alley Birthday Bash at Eldorado Park in North Las Vegas. We promised then to bring you more on the Awesome ‘54 Chevy 2-door hardtop we spied there. Today, we make good on that promise. This slammed metal masterpiece owned by Troy & Lois Summers is a real work of art with a ton of old skewl style and definitely worthy of a second look. After all, this kandy purple ride is chopped, channeled and extended with over 150 body modifications. Many are obvious - some more subtle. All are worth sharing.
In true Las Vegas style, dice ride proudly atop the dual recessed antennas. Pinstripe graphics are everywhere.
Looking down, cool pipes sit a mere fraction on an inch over the grass.
A cool mural adorns the spare tire cover in the back - airbrush art is credited to Barry Johnson.
Inside, beautiful paint, pinstripes, and lots of chrome make this ride stand out from the others. The fuzzy dice bring back memories of an era past.
The ultra-clean engine compartment features a balanced, bored and blue printed 350ci motor with lots of polished aluminum, stainless steel, chrome and anodized metals attached to a Turbo 400 automatic tranny.
Giving credit where credit is due. Great job everyone for putting together a cool ride, and for sharing.

For airbrush tanning, Laura recommends the high output of the Iwata Eclipse BCS, but the Iwata Revolution BCR is also good as it has the finest atomization in its price range.

Ikuko Saito from Anest Iwata was on hand to offer an international perspective.
Creativity made an hairy appearance, with her locks sculpted like a hat. This lovely model displays the magic of White Sands mega hold hairspray. Pretty cool stuff. A.D. takes pause with a lovely model with the wild doo - crazy, but we like it.
And who can resist a quick pic with the ECO girls? Here, A.D. takes pause to appreciate beauty.

Every Saturday morning hundreds of proud drivers and local dedicated car lovers congregate to kick tires and enjoy a cup of coffee. Cars and Coffee™ Las Vegas launched June 14th, 2008 and is already a huge hit. We’re told the first show had over 250 cars and promises to grow as word of the ongoing event spreads throughout the community. Cars and Coffee™ Las Vegas is a weekly Saturday morning gathering of auto enthusiasts from 7:00am - 10:00am at 9500 S Eastern Ave. in the Sansone Park Place Shopping Center (215 and Eastern).
We stopped in this past Saturday (July 12), and despite pending rain, there was a worthwhile turnout of rolling art. I was informed this was a less-than-typical attendance because of gray skies and the forecast of pending showers, but there was plenty to see none-the-less. Classics, exotics, concepts, hot rods and motor-sport were all there for the viewing. And it’s all free, minus the coffee of course, which can be purchase at the nearby Einstein Bagels.
This patriotic beast sits proudly in front - standing guard and ready to rumble, these colors don’t run… they romp.
European exotics like these beautiful Ferraris were plentiful. There’s more inside Motorcars of Las Vegas too. No shortage of eye candy here.
This Ferrari Testarossa takes us back to a time when pastel clothes were cool and stubble was in. Say what you will, these beasts will always be cool.
…and this immaculate ‘57 Chevy 2 door hard top is no exception.
Corvettes are always welcome. In our book, there is no better examples of American muscle for the regular guy.
This Corvette is all fired up and ready to roll.
Speaking of Vettes… this ultra-modified silver ’60s monster has flair to spare.
A beautiful Challenger for you Mopar guys.
Nice. Takes me back to a time when muscle ruled the street. This is a beautiful ride in red that turns more than its share of heads.
Cobras galore. There were quite a few to view. Nothing brightens a gray day like going topless…
Just can’t get enough of these monsters.
Vegas is a big town for Cobra replicas with Shelby Automobiles just down the road.
It seems Cadillac Escalades are everywhere in Vegas. When it comes to big and cool, they rule this town - even in a $4.75 per gallon economy. With earth tone flames, swingin’ doors and and a rockin’ stereo system, this one is a step above the norm. What’s not to like? Ride well.
Vroooom. The plate says it all. Kind of gets you right there.
A very clean 1929 Ford Model A.
This fabulous Thunderbird is too cool. When it comes to classics of this era, the Ford T-Bird was in a class unto itself.
Got something cool? Show yours and share. The coffee is brewing and the crowd is great.
Celebrating America’s 231st Birthday and share some good old fashioned American pride is part of what Independence Day weekend is all about. We think the shot above tells the story well. USA and proud of it!
This 1923 Ford Tribute T-Bucket is as about as patriotic as they come. We discovered it recently at the Freemont Street Experience Hot Rod Show and thought you might enjoy it too. Today seems to be a good day to share this one in particular.
Proud to be an American. The sign says it all. This rod is a tribute to all who served and continue to serve our great nation. Well done Tates.
Murals on each side…
…and a battleship scene on deck - these guys are always ready.
Nice embroidery work carries the theme of pride to the inside.

This great pic was sent to us from Ed Hubbs. The cool ride and beautiful lady were shot for the new Snap-On calendar. Ed painted this beast and we’re excited to share it with you here. Stay tuned for more on the car soon.
Last Saturday morning we took shelter from the scorching heat that is Las Vegas in June under the cool parking garage of Finley Chevrolet where we happened to find a great little hot rod show.
There were some beautiful rods taking in the sun…
…including a few we’ve seen before at other local venues.
A local favorite…
…encourages us to ‘think pink’.
Mater the Tow Truck.
A cool local rat rod.
Rods, rods, everywhere.
This ‘59 Chevy wagon is still one of our favorites.
Kåfer Cruisers of Las Vegas made an appearance with an old school VolksWagon.
Talented kids from Ernie Reyes’ West Coast Martial Arts came out to entertain the hot rod enthusiasts.
