This week’s Pic of the Week features Mark Hebbeler from Anest Iwata with the great Marilyn Monroe (or a in this case Jami as Marilyn), offering him some encouragement over his broken foot at SEMA 2007 in Las Vegas.
We saw these cool wheels airbrushed to look like 1985 Liberty Quarters at SEMA 2007, and thought it was cool. On the ground… spinners that go with he wheels when she’s not on display - cooler yet. Check it out…
One of the great pleasures of attending a show like SEMA is that you can get up close and personal with not only people of renown, but also famous Hot Rods. This is the unparalleled ’36 Ford Roadster which won the 2005 Ridler award at Detroit’s Autorama.
Introducing Brian & Leah Gall own & operate Finishline Design Inc. in Corcoran, MN, just 30 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. Leah handles the airbrush and Brian is skilled in body work and graphic style paint jobs. Check out some of their work…
One of the more interesting cars we saw at the 2007 SEMA Show was the B-702 by Blastolene. Designed by Michael Leeds, the B-702 features a 702 cubic inch GMC V-12 engine and Allison 4 speed transmission to move the 155 in. wheel base, 20 ft. long, 8 ft. wide rolling sculpture. This beautiful example of rolling art also features a hand-formed aluminum body, glass grille and hand-blown glass taillights.
The B-702 is the latest creation from the Blastolene Brothers, Michael Leeds and Randy Grubb. The B-702, designed by Leeds, was inspired by the great French cars of the 1930’s. The size of the car is surprising at 19.5′ long and the 94″ width makes a powerful impact. The dramatic separation between the body and pod-style front fenders is further highlighted by the glass grille bars and wood light headlights. The 702cid V12 was produced from 1960-1965 by GMC for use in 2½ ton medium-duty trucks, producing 650 ft/lbs. of torque at 850 rpm on regular gasoline. A modern Allison 4-speed sends power to a 9″ Ford Currie rear end. 4-wheel power disc brakes and power steering makes the 4,800 lb car drive like a dream.
The Blastolene Brothers are known for their over-sized V12 powered custom cars. Their first project was the “Jay Leno Tank Car” which rocked the automotive world in 2002. This is the first Blastolene creation to be offered to the public. The hand-formed aluminum body rides on a custom frame and the entire chassis is nickel-plated or powder-coated to a show quality. The interior is finished in Maroon leather and the over sized speedometer cluster is a Lincoln Zephyr unit. Rear fenders and body are all one flowing piece. The deep separation between the body and fenders are accented by hand-blown glass taillights. Painted Midnight Blue, this should be considered a rolling piece of sculpture. Debuted at Quail Lodge in Monterey, CA, in August 2007, the B-702 is a new construction being offered for the first time. This uniquely American creation is a true one-of-a-kind coach-built masterpiece. The Blastolene Brothers have created the unique look of this latest creation by combining the American love of high-powered, large displacement engines with a refined, almost European design sensibility. The resulting blend is unique in the automotive world; a passionate design statement with the performance of traditional American Hot Rodding.
Six curvaceous pipes run out each side to create an exciting exhaust system complimenting the fender lines.
The midnight blue paint works beautifully with the maroon interior.
Like it? Word is it’s on the market and can be had for a mere $475,000. You can own the B-702 with some assurance that you will find nothing like it on your block… or anywhere else we’re guessing.
Parked just outside the north hall, this 1933 Henney Funeral Coach, owned and restored by Fleet Bodyworks, was a fun find at SEMA 2007. This car was originally hand built as a custom coach, used as an ambulance or hearse. In its latest iteration it was painted by none other than airbrush master Mickey Harris
A beautiful angel covers the hood…
…while a mural depicting the conflict of heaven and hell runs down the driver’s side of the coach.
A cherub adorns the front fender.
More beautiful mural art on the passenger side.
A fitting hood ornament.
This passenger has a one way ticket to… well, you decide.
SEMA always brings out the best in so many realms when it comes to all things automotive. And in the airbrush art world, some of those were represented at the Iwata-Medea display. All 100% airbrush with automotive urethanes, all painted by world-class artists and all 100% cool. Check ‘em out…
A.D. Cook taking the photo opportunity with gorgeous babes in the ALSA display at SEMA 2007 - on Halloween of course - what… you think they dress up like this all year? Well it is Las Vegas - lol.
Robot babes are timeless, and they are everywhere — sometimes disguised as the perfect imitations of the human form, and sometimes, while still beautiful, displayed in their natural state of revealed technology. There seems to be a quantum leap when it comes to how people see robots. But this metallic masterpiece knows her true calling as she works the floor at the 2007 SEMA Show passing out information cards to the tens of thousands of visitors who love cars and all things metallic.
Say… nice headlights (oh sure, like you weren’t thinking the same).
All kidding aside, this robot babe is cool. She caught out attention at the show, and given that we like to post on pretty ladies at car shows, we felt it appropriate to share her with you.
