You might be wondering why we’re posting this cool video of Capt. Jantzen on Fox News. Well, this is a story that really touched our hearts. Recently the father of a hero and one of our fallen soldiers - SPC Thomas J. “TJ” Barbieri, contacted us and made us aware of this really amazing “hand-crank” bike that is making its rounds in races all over the country.
You see, this is a very special tribute project. It was spearheaded through a program funded by the Achilles Track Club Freedom Team of Wounded Warriors, painted by Craig Bordner with Barbieri’s unit crest, his campaign medals and Bronze and Silver Stars, then donated to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in his name. The bike was recently ridden in the Marine Corps Marathon by Capt. Brian Jantzen of the 82nd Airborne. Capt Jantzen lost his leg in Ramadi, Iraq, but that didn’t slow him down. Inspired by the heroism of one of our finest, Jantzen runs marathons in Barbieri’s honor and for his memory. Every day is Veteran’s day.
Check out pics of the bike…
