Pic of the Week - 1/4/08

Above (left to right): Jake Jacobs of Pete & Jakes Hot Rod Parts, Ed Roth aka Big Daddy Roth, Bob Spina and Pete Chapouris of SO-CAL Speed Shop.

So it goes… I paid a visit to Bob Spina last evening at his shop in Las Vegas. Turns out he is wrapping up a beautiful paint job on a spankin’ new ‘08 Harley-Davidson Street Glide that we’ll call ‘Project Raven’ (more on that in tomorrow’s post). And as we were discussing the world of paint, I noticed a photo in his shop that caught my interest - a snapshot of hot rod legends - sitting there and ready to share. So as we begin this new year, we thought it would be cool to share a great picture from the past as this week’s Pic of the Week.

Pete tells us that this snapshot was taken in his back yard in Acadia, CA in the early 80’s. Pete was just finishing up a video interview with Roth - Spina did the interview (kind of an early Blogger in his own right). Later, they drove the coupes to the NSRA Nats in Oklahoma City and Roth tagged along and filmed the whole thing. Note the black hot rod on the left - that’s Pete’s ‘California Kid’, ready to go - a notoriously famous and outrageously cool ‘34 coupe. Click here to see So-Cal hot rods.

To new beginnings and old friends - Have a great new year all!
